The Australian Catholic Bishops Conference (ACBC) is seeking to engage a Research Assistant to work as a member of its National Centre for Pastoral Research (NCPR).   This is a part-time (22.5 hours/week), maximum term position located at the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference in Canberra.  The position is expected to end in 2021.

As the Research Assistant – Plenary Council Project you will

  • Assist NCPR researchers at all stages of the implementation of the Plenary Council research project
  • Assist with research and manuscript preparation for publication and dissemination of results, including conducting literature searches, article summaries, and basic coding and analysis
  • Contribute to the development of documents and materials for the project
  • Monitor the status of the project and manage a database
  • Assist with preparation and delivery of workshops, seminars and other programs

You will have a tertiary qualification in social sciences or a related discipline and a demonstrated ability to carry out quantitative and/or qualitative research.  An understanding of confidentiality and privacy will be important.  You will be competent in using Microsoft Office applications and a working knowledge of NVivo will be an advantage.  You will have a high level of communication skills, excellent time management skills and an ability to work effectively in a small team.

  • Monitor the status of research projects
  • Manage content for print and online publications
  • Maintain a database of stakeholders

You will have a tertiary qualification in social sciences or a related discipline and a sound understanding of social research and an understanding of confidentiality and privacy requirements.  You will be competent in using Microsoft Office applications and a basic knowledge of quantitative or qualitative research analytical software will be an advantage.  You will be a good communicator with excellent time management skills and an ability to work effectively in a small team.
